Rangers ready to sell Morelos as big-money transfer mooted - pundit
Kevin Phillips has tipped Alfredo Morelos to remain at Rangers past the end of the transfer window despite fresh interest in Turkey.
The ex-Sunderland striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the Gers would have to spend big in the transfer window to replace the Colombia international
Turkish newspaper Tavkim reported last week (August 16th) that Morelos is on a three-man shortlist for Super Lig side Fenerbache.
Football Insider revealed in June that Rangers are holding out for a fee around £13million, after contact from Porto regarding the striker.
However, Phillips believes that Morelos is indispensable for Rangers.
“I’ve said all along, I think Morelos has got great qualities,” he told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“He’s got an edge about him.
“At some point during the season, he may let you down by getting sent off.
“But he’s proved that in the last couple of weeks by scoring some vital goals. He’s a goalscorer – simple as that.
“Stevie [Gerrard] and his staff will be waking up every morning thinking: ‘Can we afford to let him go?’
“Who else is going to score these important goals? They’ll have to go out and spend a lot of money to get anyone remotely similar.
“If he’s scoring goals and he’s happy – then keep him at the club.”
Morelos has netted 96 goals in 186 games for the Ibrox club since his £1million move, including in the 1-0 win over Alashkert on Thursday.
Rangers’ quest to keep Morelos could be complicated by their financial situation, with boss Steven Gerrard hinting that players could be sold in comments to the BBC last week (August 12th).
