Pundit hails Newcastle for pulling off August deal 'everyone wanted'
Noel Whelan insists Joe Willock is just what Newcastle need after the club confirmed his signing.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claims Steve Bruce is relieved to finally get his man.
Newcastle confirmed the capture of Willock on Friday (13th August) after hunting his signature all summer.
Willock, 21, spent the second half of last season on loan at St James’ Park and found a new lease of life.
He scored eight goals in 14 games for the Magpies and this site revealed in April how Willock had expressed a desire to return to the North East.
Whelan hailed the impact Willock had last season and predicted his arrival could have a similar impact the second time around.

“It’s brilliant,” Whelan told Football Insider assistant editor Ben Wild.
“Bruce was desperate to get him in, Arsenal weren’t sure about keeping him.
“It’s a signing that everyone wanted, especially from Bruce‘s point of view.
“We all saw the attitude and commitment from the player and the energy he brought to the side last season.
“The goals were also vitally important at times, he’s a very promising up and coming player.
“He’s just what Newcastle need. He’s a presence from midfield who gets forward and scores goals.”
Willock was not registered in time to play in Newcastle’s season opener against West Ham.
The midfielder was unveiled before kick off as the Magpies went on to lose 4-2.
