Pundit impressed as Tottenham line up 'amazing' Lloris replacement
Kevin Phillips has insisted Aston Villa keeper Emiliano Martinez would be a “great signing” for Tottenham.
The former Claret and Blue striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 29-year-old could find a move to Spurs “hard to turn down”.
As reported by the Independent (October 30th), Tottenham are targeting a move for Aston Villa star Martinez should current number one Hugo Lloris move to pastures new at the end of this season.
The report claims Real Sociedad’s Alex Remiro and Alex Meret of Napoli are also on the shortlist.
As revealed by Football Insider in September, West Brom shot-stopper Sam Johnstone is also a target.
Phillips suggested Villa would be reluctant to let Martinez depart, but hinted it “could come down” to the decision of the Argentinian star.

“He’s been amazing for Villa – what a signing,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.
“If they could get him, Spurs would be getting a fantastic keeper – he would be a great signing for them.
“But from Aston Villa’s perspective, they would be reluctant to let him go – he’s a top goalkeeper.
“It could come down to the player. Playing under Conte at that stadium and those facilities, it may be hard to turn down.
“When you’re Tottenham and you’ve got a world-class manager in, you have to target these top players. Martinez is certainly one of them.”
Lloris, who is approaching a decade of service at Tottenham, capped off his 384th appearance for the club with a fine acrobatic stop during Spurs’ 3-2 win over Vitesse in the Europa Conference League.
The 134-cap France international’s contract expires at the end of the season.
