Pundit issues 'big' Kyle Walker claim after Man City injury update

Alan Hutton has insisted Kyle Walker is the “biggest loss” of the Man City players currently injured.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said that although City are “blessed” with a lot of talented options, they will miss Walker.

On 6 October, the club confirmed that the 32-year-old has successfully undergone surgery after suffering a groin injury during the first half of the 6-3 win over Man United.

The right-back is is now a major doubt for the World Cup, which kicks off on 20 November.

Hutton hailed Walker’s ability as well as City’s other options.

Walker is the biggest loss,” he told Football Insider.

I think what he gives you, whether it be England or Man City, it is his attributes, his pace, his intelligence.

He can play that role that Pep likes. He has really evolved as a player. He is not just an attacking full-back, he can do all different things.

So he is probably the main one they are missing at this moment in time.

Although you have got [Joao] Cancelo, who is a world-class player who can come in and take that role as well.

They are blessed with a lot of talented players. Of course you want to see a fully fit squad, Pep will be no different.

But he will know he has got players who can come in and play to that high standard.
