Pundit issues 'massive' claim on Everton potentially sacking Benitez after reveal
Noel Whelan has insisted Rafael Benitez is under “massive pressure” at Everton after their woeful recent form.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the Toffees are suffering from a “real lack of quality”.
Everton slumped to yet another defeat against Brentford yesterday, falling 1-0 in London thanks to an Ivan Toney penalty.
The Toffees are winless in their last seven games and sit bottom of the Premier League form table across the last five matches – picking up just one point (Transfermarkt).
Everton face Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal in their next five games.
The Toffees’ recent form represents a significant slump after Benitez went five games without losing during his first competitive fixtures at Goodison Park.

When asked about whether the Everton boss could face the sack, Whelan told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “There’s pressure on Benitez, absolutely.
“You only have to look at Dean Smith – five games without a win and he’s gone. Everton are now seven without a win.
“There’s massive pressure on him to pull something out of the hat to get three points and stop this rot.
“The injuries have not helped but they’re suffering from a real lack of quality. They’re a far cry from the super-confident side we saw at the start of the season.
“They’re going through a real barren spell and when you don’t have too many options upfront, they are going to find it hard to win football matches.
“They have been missing two top-quality international strikers in Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin – they can be match-winners for Everton.”
11th-place Everton face a Merseyside derby clash against Liverpool on Wednesday (December 1st).
Benitez succeeded Carlo Ancelotti during the summer break.
