Pundit issues Salah unrest claim after 'massive' Liverpool news confirmed

Kevin Campbell has stressed the “massive” importance of leadership groups after Liverpool introduced Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andrew Robertson and Alisson Becker into theirs.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Premier League striker detailed how leadership groups are the much-needed eyes and ears of a manager in the dressing room.

As quoted by Goal (27th September), Jurgen Klopp revealed Alexander-Arnold, Robertson and Alisson have been voted into Liverpool’s leadership group by their teammates.

The trio join James Milner, Virgil van Dijk and captain Jordan Henderson in the responsibility.

Mo Salah’s exclusion from the group comes as somewhat of a surprise given that the forward is Egypt’s captain.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if he would be disappointed if he was in Salah’s position, Campbell said:

“The great player that Mo is, I don’t think stuff like that would bother him. I’m sure if he felt strongly about being in the leadership group he would be in it.

” Sometimes you can look too deep into stuff like that. I think Mo Salah is taking care of business where he needs to which is out there on the pitch.

“Leadership groups are massively important though. They sit down with the manager and discuss important matters.

“At the end of the day, you have to have the connection between the dressing room and the manager. They relay to the manager how the team is feeling.”
