Pundit lauds 'absolutely brilliant' Johnson after 'incredible' West Ham reveal
Paul Robinson has heaped praise on the “absolutely brilliant” Ben Johnson after West Ham beat Liverpool.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and Leeds United goalkeeper said “it’s incredible” that the 21-year-old has replaced Vladimir Coufal in the starting XI.
Johnson starred on Sunday as the Hammers won 3-2 over Jurgen Klopp’s side at the London Stadium.
The right-back made 11 clearances and three interceptions over the course of the 90 minutes – more than any other player on the pitch. (WhoScored)
Speaking to Sky Sports on Saturday, Johnson revealed he has been striving to show his manager David Moyes his full potential.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of the young defender’s form, Robinson said:

“It’s incredible because Coufal has been one of West Ham’s best players over the past 18 months.
“If you were Ben Johnson, you would have thought your only chance to play would be when Coufal was injured.
“But, Johnson’s performances have been of such merit that he deserves to be in the team. There is no doubt about that in my eyes. He has been absolutely brilliant since he has come in.
“What David Moyes has done there has been nothing short of incredible. Johnson has been a big part of that in the past few games. The squad is looking a lot stronger than it was, especially in a defensive sense.”
