Pundit makes big Liverpool claim after what he's just seen from Salah
Frank McAvennie claims Mohammad Salah’s incredible form has made Liverpool the team to watch in this season’s title race.
The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to the attacker’s astonishing start to the new campaign.
Salah, 29, has scored nine goals in nine total outings this season, including a goal-of-the-season contender in today’s 2-2 thriller against Man City, and leads the Premier League goalscoring charts.
The Reds have won two from two in the Champions League and sit second in the Premier League.
During Liverpool’s 2019-20 title-winning season, Salah scored 19 goals in the league but he is on track to match his debut league-only season haul of 32.
McAvennie scored 26 league goals for the Hammers in the 1989-90 season and claims Salah has a similar level of confidence.

“Ian Rush said something the other day,” McAvennie told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.
“He said when he was playing for Liverpool, it was a question of how many he would score, not if he would score.
“That’s what Salah has at the moment. I had that at West Ham, me and Tony Cottee had that.
“That’s one hell of a thing to have. That confidence is incredible. It’s a great thing.
“No one is stopping him this season. He’s absolutely up there with you Haalands and your Kanes.
“People weren’t talking about Liverpool going for the title this year. I think Salah’s form has put them in the conversation.
“They are my team to watch. After what I saw from him [Salah], wow.”
Liverpool go into the international break second in the league, a point adrift of leaders Chelsea.
The Blues sit one place and one point below Jurgen Klopp’s side on 14 points, two behind Chelsea.
