Pundit names Aston Villa player who'll 'benefit massively' from Buendia arrival

Paul Robinson has tipped Ollie Watkins to “benefit massively” from Aston Villa signing Emiliano Buendia.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one heaped praise on Buendia, 24, and claimed he will help bring more goals to Dean Smith’s side next season.

Villa today confirmed they have reached an agreement with Norwich City for the transfer of the Argentine attacking midfielder.

Football Insider revealed on Sunday that Buendia had chosen to sign for the Midlands giants over Arsenal because of the club’s ambition to join England’s elite.

It is understood the deal includes a guaranteed £33million, £5million in add-ons and a basic wage for the player in the region of £75,000-a-week.

Robinson suggested Watkins will benefit most from Buendia’s arrival at Villa Park.

“Buendia is a very good player on the ball and I think he will fit very well into what Dean Smith is building there,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“Ollie Watkins will benefit massively from his creativity, and I see him going to a new level. Villa are an exciting attacking team now. There is goals in that team.

“One of the criticisms levelled at Villa in the season where they narrowly avoided relegation was that they did not score enough goals. But with Buendia and Grealish behind Watkins there is lots of goals in that team.

“They will be great to watch next year. They now have some serious attacking talent.”
