Pundit shares 'absolute disaster' Dele Alli claim after Everton source's update pre-Chelsea

Dele Alli could start as a striker against Chelsea after an injury blow to Everton star Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

On Wednesday (3 August), Football Insider revealed that Calvert-Lewin is facing three months on the sidelines after tearing his lateral collateral ligament.

He is set to be sidelined for at least 10 weeks, ruling him out until November.

To make matters worse for the Toffees, Salomon Rondon is suspended for his side’s opening game of the season.

Wenham claims Alli could start as a forward against Chelsea on Saturday (6 August).

“What are they left with? Rondon or Dele up front?” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Rondon is suspended, so Dele and who? What is the other option? Dele isn’t even a forward anyway so he won’t score goals.

“From a Tottenham point of view, this is really frustrating because it gives Chelsea a really easy first game and three points.

“Chelsea have the potential to be in a bit of disarray this season so it would be better for them to start against literally anyone else.

“Everton have zero chance of doing anything against Chelsea if they are just lumping long balls to Dele Alli.

“It will be Dwight McNeil on one side and Anthony Gordon on the other while Alli is stood there, hands on hips, I can already see him just walking around in a one-foot square moaning at other people.

“The whole thing is a disaster. Koulibaly will be stepping up so high in front of him. He’s offering nothing.

That will be an absolute disaster.

“Chelsea will win that one three or four nil.”
