Pundit suggests Everton to replace Allan with Premier League star after Telegraph report
Noel Whelan has suggested Rafael Benitez may be looking to replace Allan at Everton amid reported interest in Aston Villa’s Marvelous Nakamba.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the Spanish boss would want to stamp his own mark on the side with new signings.
As reported by the Telegraph (August 11th), both Everton and Watford are keeping tabs on Nakamba as they look to bolster in midfield.
The 27-year-old joined Villa for £11million in 2019 and has three years left on his contract.
Everton signed Allan from Napoli last summer to add a specialist defensive midfielder to their ranks.
However, Whelan suggested Benitez may want to bring in a new signing to rival or replace the 30-year-old.

Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Everton bought a couple of midfield players last season, very good ones at that, who bring energy.
“Maybe Rafa Benitez has seen something in the side that he feels they need to be successful and progress.
“Look, you can never have enough energy in midfield. That’s the place on the field that you want to control and dominate.
“To have somebody with a bit more energy and tenacity about him… You’ve got Allan that they brought in last year in that defensive role.
“There’s going to be competition for places there’s quite a lot of midfield players and all vying for spots.
“We know every time a new manager comes in he always wants to bring in his own players.
“That’s his stamp on the team. This could be one player he’s looked at before and feels could bring some energy and life to that midfield.”
