Pundit suggests players 'flooding' to Celtic after Lundstram-type signing is sealed
Noel Whelan has suggested a “flood” of new signings could join Celtic following the arrival of James McCarthy.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-striker suggested that the Hoops had copied Rangers signing John Lundstram in adding the former Crystal Palace man to their squad.
Celtic confirmed a double swoop for Premier League stalwarts McCarthy and Joe Hart last Tuesday.
The 30-year-old has signed a four-year deal at Celtic Park.
The Republic of Ireland international was out of contract after his terms at Palace expired.
Whelan suggested McCarthy’s arrival could tempt other top signings to join the Bhoys.

Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “It’s a very similar signing to Lundstram going to Rangers.
“You need these players with a bit more quality, players who are going to be driving others on.
“McCarthy definitely strengthens the squad, and new faces change everything on the training ground and the belief that the players have.
“He’s going to help them massively and give the fans some optimism.
“Hopefully players like McCarthy with his sort of attitude and desire will be attracted to joining Celtic and will flood through the club now.”
McCarthy and Hart join the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi, Carl Starfelt and Liel Abada as first-team signings at Parkhead.
The Hoops have also signed 20-year-old duo Liam Shaw and Osaze Urhoghide from Sheffield Wednesday.
McCarthy came through the youth ranks at Hamilton and enjoyed spells at Wigan Athletic and Everton before joining Palace
He played 277 times in the Premier League before returning to Scotland.
