Pundit suggests when Celtic will complete Carter-Vickers signing from Tottenham after confirmed news

Noel Whelan has tipped Celtic to make Cameron Carter-Vickers wait until the end of the season before deciding over a possible permanent transfer from Tottenham.

The former Aberdeen striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted the 23-year-old had struggled to convince at times during his loan spell.

As quoted by the Daily Record (25th November), Carter-Vickers revealed he has “really enjoyed” life at Parkhead and is “open” to a permanent move.

Celtic have an optional purchase clause to sign Carter-Vickers from Spurs.

However, Whelan suggested the Bhoys would bide their time over the defender.

Asked if he thought Carter-Vickers had done enough to earn a permanent move, Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Well, after Thursday night (v Bayer Leverkusen), probably not.

“But you can’t just take it on the one game. You’ve got to give him the opportunity to give the full season to Celtic.

“Let’s see what happens. They’ve got a cup final to come up, they’re not far off the top with Rangers in the league. That’s going to be a good battle.

“Maybe being out of Europe frees them up a little bit to concentrate on that. I know it’s an old cliche but Rangers will still be in Europe, that does take its toll.”

Carter-Vickers has played 16 times for Celtic across all competitions this year.

He spent recent seasons out on loan with the likes of Luton Town, Bournemouth and Swansea City.
