Pundit swipes at Hugo Lloris amid 'incredible' Tottenham development - new signing expected
Tottenham will dip into the transfer market to sign new defenders this January.
That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Spurs’ defensive frailties.
Tottenham beat Leeds United 4-3 on Saturday (12 November) but once again found themselves behind in the first half.
Spurs have now conceded first in their last eight games, meaning they have only won three of those matches.
McManus insists Spurs need to bolster their defence with some fresh faces amid fresh criticism for Hugo Lloris.
“It’s incredible, this knack of going behind every time they play a game of football,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“It is something they have to work on because they are coming out so sloppy and letting the opposition take the initiative.
“Luckily for them, Leeds aren’t the best defensively. Tottenham have to be stronger. You look at the goalkeeper, I don’t think he is as strong as Tottenham could have.
“But he’s the captain there and I don’t see them getting rid of him. You look at the defence and the mistakes they are making, there have to be additions there in January.
“You need players who aren’t going to make regular mistakes. I’m talking two or three solid players to make sure that defence is solid and they can start with the wing backs.”
Tottenham go into the winter break fourth in the Premier League.
They return with a game against Brentford on Boxing Day.
