Stuart Dallas must not return to the Leeds United defence after his outstanding performances in midfield.
That’s according to former Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Dallas’ form.
Dallas, 30, has played almost every minute of Leeds’ Premier League season in various positions.
At the start of the campaign he was mainly used as a full back but he has impressed in a new position in recent weeks.
He has excelled as a central midfielder in recent Leeds games which peaked with a brace in the shock 2-1 win over Man City in April.
Hutton claims Marcelo Bielsa should never return Dallas to his usual right back position as he is developing into a great player.
“I wouldn’t want to see him there [the defence] to be honest,” Hutton told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge.
“He gives you more in the midfield. He can play in multiple positions but I don’t like seeing him at left back.
“That’s not his best position but he can do a job. I like him more in the midfield.
“He’s tenacious and he gets about. We’re seeing a really good Premier League player in development for Leeds.
“They’ll be really happy with him.”
Dallas has played as a right back, left back, central midfielder and a winger on both flanks this season.
He has seven goals and two assists to his name in his debut Premier League campaign.
