Leeds tipped to sell Phillips for '£60m' after source reveals all - pundit
Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Kalvin Phillips to sign a new Leeds United contract with a “£60million” release clause.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted Phillips will want to “help the club” by securing a big fee if he was to be sold.
A Leeds source told Football Insider (October 9) the club are confident of securing their prize asset to a new deal before the end of the calendar year.
Discussions over a new contract have progressed well and are understood to be at an advanced stage.
Phillips’ current Elland Road deal expires in the summer of 2024 after he signed a new deal in 2019.
Since then the 25-year-old has established himself as an England regular and Agbonlahor compared his situation to that of Jack Grealish.

He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Jack Grealish signed a contract at Aston Villa to help the club receive a fee. He put a fee in there, a release clause, to help the club.
“Maybe Kalvin Phillips will do that, sign a new contract so the club get a better fee for him.
“If he signs a new contract for four or five years and puts in a release clause of £60million, £50million then he knows Leeds are going to get a good amount of money.
“That’s why he’s probably looking at signing a new contract.”
Phillips has played 219 times across all competitions for his boyhood club after making his debut in April 2015.
The Whites have lost eight of the 10 Premier League games the midfielder has missed since their return to the top-flight last term.
