Pundit tips 'perfect' Sessegnon for big Tottenham role as Nuno talks reported
Noel Whelan has tipped Ryan Sessegnon to play a big role under Nuno Espirito Santo after returning to Tottenham.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds striker suggested the Portuguese manager’s tactics could bring the best out of the 21-year-old.
As reported by football.london’s Alasdair Gold (July 29th), Nuno has held positive talks with Sessegnong following the wing-back’s return from his loan at Hoffenheim.
It is said the new Spurs boss tried to sign Sessegnon on several occasions during his time as Wolves manager.
The 2019 signing barely featured during Jose Mourinho’s time in charge, with just 10 appearances under the Portuguese boss.
However, Whelan suggested Nuno could get the best out of the former Fulham man.

“I don’t think Nuno will get rid of too many players,” Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“When you think about a full-back role, he’s perfect. He’s got the energy, he’s got that attacking presence going forward, he can defend.
“Why it’s not worked out at Tottenham up till now, I’ve got no idea, with the high hopes everyone had for him. He was introduced into the England setup at a time as well.
“There’s loads there and he’s still very, very young, I’d be very surprised if Nuno doesn’t keep him on board this season because he’s a player that excites you when you watch him.
“I think he will have a role to play, I really do. Nuno might be able to get the best out of him.”
Sessegnon has only played 12 times for Tottenham since joining from Fulham.
He made 29 appearances for Hoffenheim last term, with two goals and three assists under his belt.
