Sources: Dunne undergoes QPR medical after quitting Burnley

Defender Jimmy Dunne is undergoing a QPR medical after quitting Burnley, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The centre-back, 23, is finalising a move to the Londoners following the expiry of his deal with the Premier League outfit last month.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Dunne is putting the finishing touches to a QPR transfer after arriving for medical tests.

Dunne was reportedly offered a new deal by Burnley but was keen to explore options away from Turf Moor.

He was behind James Tarkowski, Kevin Long and Ben Mee in the centre-back pecking order at the East Lancashire club last season.

QPR have already added to their defensive ranks with the capture of Jordy de Wijs who joined on a permanent deal after a season-long loan at Loftus Road last term.

They have also recruited Andre Dozzell, Charlie Austin, Jordan Archer and Sam Field in what has been a busy start to the summer window.

Dunne rose through the ranks at Man United’s academy before joining Burnley in 2017.

He has spent time out on loan with Barrow, Accrington Stanley, Hearts, Sunderland and Fleetwood Town since signing for Sean Dyche’s side.

The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 made his senior debut for Burnley in the League Cup against Sheffield United last September.

On his Premier League debut three days later, Dunne scored his first goal for the Clarets in a 4-2 defeat away to Leicester City.

As revealed by this site on 25th June, Swansea City had opened talks to sign Dunne.

But in QPR he will join a side who finished 9th in the Championship after a strong end to the season under Mark Warburton.
