'Quality player' - High flying boss predicts major transfer hunt for Newcastle powerhouse
Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic has said that he predicts there will be a major transfer hunt for the signing of Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic this summer after his loan spell with the Cottagers.
The Serbian powerhouse, who has 33-caps under his belt for his country, joined up with the Championship side on a season long loan during the January window’s deadline day, and has made an impressive start to his life at Craven Cottage, scoring two goals in five appearances.
With his future on Tyneside uncertain, having fallen out of favour with manager Rafael Benitez, Jokanovic, who is flying high with Fulham in fifth place in the Championship, insists that the 23-year-old is a top talent, and that there will be much interest in his capture come the end of the season.
He told the Chronicle: “He’s a quality player, he showed the quality in these few games that he played with us and in the future we will see.
“In the summer, many things can happen. At the end he is a very good player and I believe many clubs will be interested in him.
“We were looking for this kind of striker for a long time and, at the end, we can find something that I believe can be useful for my team.”

Mitrovic managed just seven outings for Newcastle this season before his departure in January, with a total of 72 outings to his name since arriving in 2016.
Football Insider verdict
Newcastle will be hoping Jokanovic is right about the amount of interest in Mitrovic come summer, as they will be looking to get every possible penny out of his sale. On his day he can be a game changer but his temperament and attitude do not fit in with Benitez’s ideologies, meaning that while the Spaniard is at the helm, the Serbian’s future at St James’ Park looks bleak. Perhaps the half-season away with Fulham will help him develop into the talent he can be, and force his way back into the first team reckoning – but a big money bid will no doubt convince Benitez to let the powerhouse forward leave.
