Veerman will rocket Rangers to new level after 'crazy' transfer twist - pundit
Joey Veerman would make Rangers “bigger, stronger and better” if they can meet Heerenveen’s £8million asking price.
That is according to ex-Premier League shot-stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider amid the latest twist in the Veerman saga.
Quoted by the Scottish Sun on 21st July, the 22-year-old playmaker said Heerenveen are making things “very difficult” by demanding a “crazy” £8m.
Those remarks came after Serie A side Verona had a £5m bid rejected.
The Athletic’s Jordan Campbell reported on 17th July that Veerman, who is under contract until 2024, is one of Rangers’ top targets this summer.
Kenny suggests that Veerman would make a top long-term replacement for Steven Davis or Scott Arfield, who are 36 and 32 respectively.

“They are both knocking on a bit,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
“They are well into their 30s but they were both still unbelievable last season. But listen, Rangers have to keep pushing forwards after winning that title back.
“I think this is a good move in terms of getting the squad bigger, stronger, and better. I can only see it being a positive move for Rangers.
“I think it just goes to show where they are compared to Celtic at the moment in terms of spending a few quid.“
Veerman scored nine goals and supplied 11 assists for Heerenveen last term.
Rangers have signed Fashion Sakala, Nnamdi Ofoborh and John Lundstram on free transfers ahead of 2021-22.
