Rangers are expected to announce the signing of Jason Cummings from Nottingham Forest within the coming hours, according to a report.
The Daily Record claimed on their live transfer blog on Monday [07:25am] that Cummings, 22, was in Glasgow on Sunday night ahead of completing a loan move to Ibrox until the end of the season after an agreement was reached with Forest.
Cummings is expected to become Rangers’ third January signing on Monday, following Sean Goss and Jamie Murphy in moving north of the border to agree terms with the Glasgow club.
Sky Sports had reported in their live transfer blog on Sunday [09:48pm] that the former Hibernian centre-forward will undergo a medical on Monday, and it appears that once that is completed then he may be announced as a Rangers player.
The one-time Scotland international joined Forest for £1million in the summer after helping Neil Lennon’s Hibs win the Scottish Championship title.
However he has scored just four goals in 17 appearances in all competitions since moving south of the border, and is now in line for a quick fire return to Scotland.
Football Insider verdict
Cummings will be a fantastic signing for Rangers, but his arrival at Ibrox may signal the end for Kenny Miller and Eduardo Herrera. Murty will have Cummings, Alfredo Morelos, Josh Windass and Jamie Murphy all viable options to play as centre-forwards in the second half of the season, so it is likely that the two more senior strikers will find it very hard to get football. Miller is out injured for a lengthy time and is expected to get a coaching role with the Gers when his playing contract ends in the summer. However Pedro Caixinha signing Herrera has been a total flop in Glasgow and should really be shifted out as soon as possible.
