Allan McGregor is poised to make a stunning return to Rangers in a two-year deal, and Rangers fans are giddy with excitement.

The Daily Mail has claimed that the Scotland international, who has been Hull’s number one in the Championship, is out of contract in the summer and is closing in on a Rangers deal.

The 36-year-old quit Ibrox in 2012 when he moved to Besiktas but is keen to return because of family reasons.

The report also says that Director of Football Mark Allen is pushing on with rebuilding the squad despite the uncertainty over the new manager, and he is close to a pre-contract agreement for Scott Arfield – also on a free transfer.

McGregor would be looking to come in as the number one, replacing Wes Foderingham, however, any deal for McGregor would be dependent on him taking a wage cut.

Rangers fans are all over it.

There is some support for Foderingham, but the overwhelming view is that McGrgeor is a big upgrade, despite his age, with one fan saying he would be “phenomenal” and another saying the keeper is “world class”.
