Former Club Brugge boss Michel Preud’Homme is interested in taking over as Rangers boss, according to his agent – and fans of the Ibrox giants think he might be a good choice for the club.

The 58-year-old’s agent Ugi Canturk claimed that Preud’Homme is prepared to wait to discover if the Rangers board want him at Ibrox after being offered the manager’s job at Mechelen.

“We’ve had a nice conversation with Rangers and everything is open,” Canturk said, as quoted by the Daily Record website.

“Michel has been offered a job at Mechelen but that is on hold.

“We have said that as long as there is no decision yet from Rangers, we don’t want to block ourselves.

“Michel is honoured that Rangers would consider him.”

The former Belgium goalkeeper guided Standard Liege and Club Brugge to the Belgian title and won cups with Brugge, Gent and Dutch side FC Twente.

Gers fans are impressed with the Belgian but some think it may be the wrong time for the club to appoint another foreign manager – with one fan saying it was the “right man, wrong time.”

Here are some of their comments:

The Light Blues sacked Pedro Caixinha on Thursday after slipping to fourth in the Scottish Premiership.

Graeme Murty has taken interim charge for the second time in 2017 as the Gers look for only their 17th permanent manager.

Derek McInnes is the bookies’ favourite to replace Caixinha at Ibrox if the Rangers board can convince Aberdeen to allow their manager to move.

In other Rangers news, Vladimir Weiss has delivered a surprise verdict on the sacking of Pedro Caixinha.
