Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to tear Bruno Alves to shreds for his performance in the 2-1 win against Hibernian at Easter Road on Wednesday night.

Alves, 36, was picked to start for a second Premiership game in a row for the first time since Pedro Caixinha was sacked in October for the trip to Edinburgh but in just nine minutes he was already have Gers fans frothing at the mouth.

The Portugal international was made a mockery of by Hibs' SImon Murray, who ran directly at him before finding an unmarked Lewis Stevenson on the edge of the area.

Alves then made an poor effort at blocking Stevenson's shot, and could only get a touch on the ball as it sailed into the net.

Josh Windass and Alfredo Morelos were on hand to score though and spare Alves of his blushes as Rangers earned a fourth win in a row over Neil Lennon's men.

Although it was a positive night, fans on Twitter were really not happy with Alves, with one saying that the centre-back is "stealing a wage".

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Alves has been widely criticised for his poor performances since being signed by Caixinha from Cagliari in the summer.

He has made 14 appearances across all competitions for the Gers, scoring one goal.
