Rangers are set to table an official bid for Preston North End star Daniel Johnson, Football Insider understands.
The versatile left-footed playmaker, 27, has emerged as a top target for Steven Gerrard’s side as they look to add more creative options before the transfer window shuts.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Johnson is in advanced talks to join Rangers following extensive discussions with Preston.
Johnson has told Preston boss Alex Neil he is “very keen” to join the Light Blues, who are readying a formal bid to strike an agreement.
Tellingly, the Jamaican failed to make the Preston matchday squad for their 1-0 defeat to Swansea City on Saturday.
