Sources: Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst faces sack amid Ibrox board reveal
Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst is under growing threat of the sack, Football Insider understands.
The Dutchman, 47, has overseen a dismal start to the new campaign that continued with Wednesday night’s 3-0 Champions League defeat to Napoli at Ibrox.
Rangers chiefs are believed to be increasingly concerned how far the team has slipped behind Celtic following the 4-0 humiliation at Parkhead earlier this month.
It is believed Van Bronckhorst’s position will be discussed by the board, and he could be dismissed within just weeks, if there is not a significant turnaround in performances and results.
In turn, the Dutchman is believed to have told friends he is wary of being sacked following the Glasgow derby humiliation.
Rangers slipped to their third consecutive heavy defeat on Wednesday without scoring and have now conceded 11 goals without reply.

Club chiefs are well aware of the calibre of the opposition, with Napoli and Ajax both leading their domestic leagues as well as being established Champions League clubs.
But the defeat to Celtic was especially damaging and there are fears in the boardroom that Ange Popstecoglu’s side could run away with the league title this season.
There is growing criticism of Van Bronckhorst from club supporters just months after leading the team to the Europa League final following a remarkable sequence of results.
Rangers also reached the group stages of this season’s Champions League after progressing through the qualification stage.
But the team’s domestic results have not matched their strong European performances, with Celtic already five points clear in the Scottish Premiership this term.
