Rangers interest in Silas Andersen confirmed, £8.6m transfer ‘close’
Rangers were interested in BK Hacken defensive-midfielder Silas Andersen in the winter transfer window.
According to Tipsbladet journalist Farzam Abolhosseini on 23 May, Sporting CP are close to completing a deal for the 21-year-old for an £8.6million package.
When asked on X whether the Gers were in for the Denmark Under-21 international in January, the reporter replied, “Yes, they were.”
Football Insider Transfer Correspondent Pete O’Rourke had given Celtic the edge to sign Andersen after winning the William Hill Premiership, but it looks like both the Old Firm clubs are set to miss out on him.
Danny Rohl is hoping for leaders at Ibrox after making specific demands to Andrew Cavenagh and it will be interesting to see who the Govan side will go for in the summer.

Rohl was backed with four new additions in the winter transfer window as the Gers hopes to push for the league title.
Tuur Rommens, Tochi Chukwuani, Andreas Skov Olsen and Ryan Naderi arrived at Ibrox midway through the season, but it wasn’t enough to win silverware at the Light Blues.
| Statistics | Silas Andersen |
| Appearances | 7 |
| Goals | 1 |
| Accurate passes per game | 43.0 (83%) |
| Tackles per game | 2 |
| Balls recovered per game | 5.6 |
| Total Duels won per game | 8.0 (55%) |
| Successful dribbles per game | 2.1 (54%) |
Rommens and Chukwuani have impressed fans in G51, but the former Hansa Rostock striker’s fitness issues and the VfL Wolfsburg loanee’s struggles frustrated many in the 2025-26 campaign.
Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises haven’t had the best track record when it comes to recruitment at the Glaswegian outfit, but they will certainly want to change that in the summer.
Ibrox hierarchy miss the trick with Silas Andersen snub
It’s clear that Rangers can sign Andersen if they make an attempt to match Sporting CP’s offer, but it’s unlikely that will happen.
The Gers seem confident about their midfield options going into next season after Chukwuani’s addition, with Nicolas Raskin, Connor Barron and Mohamed Diomande also at Rohl’s disposal.
While the German manager has decent quality in the engine room, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Belgium international leave for a significant profit in the coming months.
The Govan side could be proactive in their recruitment needs and they should already be preparing to sign Raskin’s replacement.
