Rangers may cash in on starlet McPake as 'big draw' explained - Hutton

Rangers may be open to cashing in on Josh McPake amid interest from QPR and Bristol City, according to Alan Hutton.

The former Gers defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the Championship pair would only consider a permanent move for the current Harrogate loanee.

As revealed by Football Insider, Bristol City have joined QPR in the hunt to sign the 19-year-old winger this summer.

It is understood the Londoners, managed by ex-Gers boss Mark Warburton, had a scout in attendance to watch McPake at Harrogate’s game at Forest Green this weekend.

Rangers have sent the academy graduate on loan to Dundee, Greenock Morton and Harrogate so far.

However, he still only has one first-team appearance under his belt at Ibrox.

Hutton suggested Championship clubs would only want a permanent switch and that Rangers may be open to cashing in.

Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “If you’re talking about the clubs that you’ve just mentioned, then they’ll want to buy him. It’s as simple as that. These sort of clubs won’t be looking to loan, in my opinion.

“This is the thing. When you allow your young players to go out on loan down south or wherever it might be and they’re impressing, they’re still so young, other teams are going to look at them.

“It’s just normal, and they’re a big draw. Obviously, English clubs take talent from Scotland and it’s a big draw for them.

“I think it will come down to where Rangers see him next season. Do they see him part of their plans, within their squad?

“If they don’t, they’ll try and make money out of their young talent coming through.”
