Sources: AFC Wimbledon set sights on Rangers ace Josh McPake
AFC Wimbledon have joined the race to sign Rangers attacker Josh McPake, Football Insider understands.
The 20-year-old’s future is up in the air after he failed to make an impression while on loan with Tranmere Rovers in League Two in the second half o 2021-22.
Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that Rangers are willing to let McPake go this summer after he slipped down their forward pecking order.
He has two years left to run on his Ibrox contract after signing a new three-year deal last summer (2021) and has vast senior experience after his loan spells.
Football Insider has previously revealed that Scottish Championship side Raith Rovers and English League Two outfit Carlisle United have set their sights on McPake.
The race is now hotting up and McPake could be faced with a decision over whether to return to England or remain in Scotland.

The prospect of joining Wimbledon, who have just been relegated to League Two, at their new London stadium could be an enticing one
Rangers have deemed McPake surplus to requirements after he failed to establish himself in their team.
He has had five loans away from Ibrox in the last three seasons and spent the second half of the recent domestic campaign on the fringes at Tranmere.
The winger was mainly used as a substitute and did not start any of their last nine matches of the campaign.
Capped by Scotland at Under-21 level, McPake has made only a single senior Rangers appearance.
