Rangers flop Carlos Pena is set to have his loan deal ripped up after being caught urinating in a fountain in his team hotel, according to a report.
The Daily Record claim that the midfielder will return to Ibrox after his side’s game on Sunday – much to the disappointment of Rangers fans.
The 28-year-old was signed in the summer by Pedro Cainxinha for £2.7million from Guadalajara but he only scored four goals in 12 Premiership games before being shipped off to Cruz Azul on loan in January.
His career actually got worse here, with injury and then fans booing him when he made his return amid accusations of being out of shape..
Last week he was caught buying a six-pack of beer in his club kit and later in the day it is alleged that he was caught by hotel staff urinating in the fountain.
The player became abusive and his deal will now be terminated after the game on Sunday against Veracruz.
The report claims that he is on £20k-a-week in wages and that Cruz Azul can terminate the deal because of behaviour clauses that he has broken.
Football Insider verdict:
Bad news for Pena and for Rangers. They don’t want him and he won’t want to be back. It seemed that Cruz Azul were on the lookout for any excuse to bin Pena and now it seems they’ve found it. It appears that Pena might have a problem and has been offered rehabilitation by his Mexican club. That might be an idea before he heads back to Ibrox. As it is, Rangers will have a player they’ll be desperate to get off their books as soon as possible, but who’s going to want him?
