Why Rangers should sign this proven Championship goalscorer
COMMENT By Emma Sanders
Rangers should look to sign Aston Villa striker Ross McCormack in the transfer window.
The 30-year-old is a proven goalscorer in the English Championship and he would bring experience and tenacity to the Rangers attack if they brought him in January.
McCormack has struggled to land a regular starting role under Steve Bruce at Aston Villa this season and he still has the talent to be playing regular first-team football elsewhere.
The Scottish international has made 18 league appearances this season but he has completed the full 90 minutes on just five occasions and only once in his last nine games.
It’s clear he still has goal-scoring talent though and despite only notching up three goals this season, he scored 21 goals in 45 Championship appearances last season which is an impressive rate.

McCormack’s contract is not due to run out until 2020 but with game time becoming increasingly difficult to come by at Villa, McCormack may opt for a move away and Rangers would be a suitable destination.
He may be tempted by a move to his home country and with Rangers in desperate need of some spark to aid their pursuit of Celtic, he could be just the player.
McCormack would be a suitable replacement for Kenny Miller in attack and the duo could work well together as part of a front two if needed.
Either way, McCormack would bring strong competition to the Rangers squad and would provide them with an added threat up front due to his goal-scoring record.
In other Rangers news, Pat Bonner claimed this goal sparked Celtic’s comeback in the Old Firm derby.
