Rangers sign Lawrence Shankland: Derek McInnes exit may be next in fresh Hearts raid
Rangers have confirmed the signing of Lawrence Shankland on a two-year contract from Hearts ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
The 30-year-old will join the Gers from the Jam Tarts when the summer window opens on 15 June.
Football Insider has extensively covered stories around Shankland’s move to Ibrox and the Light Blues have finally got their man.
Derek McInnes almost led Heart to a historic title-winning season, but the Jambos fell short on the final day in the William Hill Premiership, handing the title to Celtic after their loss at Parkhead.
While Danny Rohl has Andrew Cavenagh’s backing at the Govan side, the American owners could potentially tempt the Scottish manager from Tynecastle Park to G51 if they wanted to.

Having come so close to ending the 40-year duopoly of the Old Firm clubs in the Scottish top flight, Hearts arguably have a difficult task to go again next season.
Shankland’s exit highlights a lack of togetherness at the Edinburgh club despite their qualification to the Champions League qualifiers.

McInnes will undoubtedly be discouraged to see his captain and leading goalscorer depart in such a rapid manner after the bitter disappointment of falling short in the league.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see the former Kilmarnock boss reconsider his future at Tynecastle Park, despite Tony Bloom’s excellent reputation in football.
No matter how bad the situation is at the two Glaswegian outfits, they remain at the top of the food chain.
Danny Rohl has options amid Rangers scrutiny
Rohl has recently been linked with a return to Germany and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him opt for a Bundesliga club ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
The Rangers manager’s family continues to live in their home country and the 37-year-old has a clear incentive to be closer to his children if the opportunity arises.
If the former Sheffield Wednesday boss were to leave in the coming weeks, McInnes feels like the perfect candidate to take the Gers back to the top.
The Govan side have already raided Hearts of their talisman and they may soon lose their manager as well if Cavenagh does end up making a decision on Rohl’s future.
