Rangers attacker discarded to reserve team after Florida snub, future cast in doubt - report
Joe Dodoo’s time at Rangers could be nearing an end as the player hasn’t travelled to the Light Blues’ winter break in Florida, according to a report.
The Daily Record is reporting that whilst his team-mates get ready to play Atletico Mineiro and Corinthians in America, the 22-year-old was playing for Rangers’ reserve squad against Falkirk.
Dodoo spent the first-half of the season on-loan at Charlton where he only scored two goals, before returning to Ibrox on January 1, however it is understood that the attacker’s future is now cast in doubt.
Dodoo featured 25 times for the Gers last season, scoring five goals in the process, but this season he hasn’t featured at all and his time at Ibrox looks to be coming to an end.
Football Insider verdict
Dodoo would be better off leaving Rangers in the January transfer window. If he stays for another five months it will just be a drain on the Gers’ finances, at time when every penny counts. It wouldn’t do the player any good to stay either, as it looks like the only chance he will get anywhere the first-team is if a massive injury crisis hits. The loan spell at Charlton doesn’t seem to have done much for Dodoo’s career, but there will still be clubs looking for a striker in the lower leagues in England who will take a gamble on the player.
