Big name tipped to quit Rangers next summer after Campbell update - pundit
Rangers will sell one of their big-name stars next summer.
So says ex-Scottish Premiership forward Noel Whelan, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Scottish champions’ summer transfer activity.
Speculation surrounded the likes of Borna Barisic, Ryan Kent and Connor Goldson as Rangers entered the off-season.
But the Athletic‘s Jordan Campbell reported on 1 September that Rangers ultimately did not receive as much interest in their stars as they expected.
Nnamdi Ofoborh, John Lundstram and Fashion Sakala meanwhile all joined on free transfers, while Juninho Bacuna signed from Huddersfield Town.
Whelan claims that Rangers have been able to strengthen and not lose their top players because of the atmosphere at the club.

But he expects that Steven Gerrard’s side could shed talent in next summer’s window.
He told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge: “It’s a testament to the club that they’ve managed to keep hold of everyone.
“There was Premier League interest in them and they have ended up not losing any of them and adding to the squad as well.
“It just goes to show the club is in a really healthy place these days. People don’t want to leave because they want to stay and try and fight for every competition they are in.
“That’s a massive bonus for the manager and the coaches, knowing that these players don’t want to leave. They are doing something right, aren’t they?
“‘It’s a really happy camp, why would you want to leave at the moment?
“But after they have another good season, which I’m sure they will do, you may well see one of these big players leave.“
