Aston Villa legend Gabby Agbonlahor joined Football Insider's punditry team in November 2020. The Villans’ all-time leading Premier League goalscorer is loving life in the media spotlight and has no problem riling up supporters with his views - watch out Leeds fans! One of the most in-demand pundits at the moment, Gabby is also a regular on Sky Sports and talkSPORT.

Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Rangers to swoop for exit-bound Leeds United defender Barry Douglas.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England striker heaped praise on the "talented" defender and suggested Steven Gerrard will snap Leeds' fingers off to sign him.

He spent this season on loan at Championship side Blackburn Rovers but he confirmed on Twitter he will not be signing a permanent deal at Ewood Park.

The one-time Scotland international was born in Glasgow and he told the Talking Shutt podcast last April he was a Rangers fan and grew up just five minutes from Ibrox.

He said: "I grew up being a Rangers fan. You always have your club in your heart, but when you’re playing for points week in week out, it changes it a little bit."

Asked whether Rangers could be tempted by the left-back, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “100 per cent, yes.

“I really liked him when he was at Leeds. He did very well when they got promoted but then he lost his place.

“But I’m sure that’s one that Steven Gerrard will snap their fingers off for.

“He’s a talented player and as a Rangers fan it couldn’t mean more to him. I can see that.”

Gerrard's current first-choice left-back is Borna Barisic who has played 50 times across all competitions this season.

Calvin Bassey was brought in as back up last summer but he has managed just six starts this term.
