Sources: Leeds and Rangers in race to sign £5m-valued Moreno

Rangers and Leeds United are keeping close tabs on Colombian attacker Santiago Moreno, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The Glasgow giants are in the market for forward talent capable of playing in next season’s Champions League.

Industry sources have told Football Insider that Rangers and Leeds have been tracking Moreno, 21, with a view to a summer move.

The Colombian plays as a wide forward for America de Cali in the Colombian league.

He is blisteringly quick and his playing style has been compared to Liverpool superstar Sadio Mane.

Moreno is valued at the £5million mark.

Encouragingly for Rangers and the rising star’s other suitors, he would be granted Governing Body Endorsement (“GBE”) as he’s played in the Copa Libertadores this season.

It is the highest level of competition in south American club football and demonstrative of the pedigree and promise of Moreno.

He has been a regular scorer and creator this season, with his 22 appearances in all competitions yielding five goals and four assists.

Rangers’ interest in Moreno comes at a time when there is doubt over the future of Ianis Hagi.

The 22-year-old signing permanently last summer for an initial £3million but has been linked with a move to Serie A.

He has had a fine season for Steven Gerrard’s invincible league champions, scoring eight goals and supplying 15 assists from 45 matches in all competitions.

Leeds are also in the market for a wide forward who is young and has the potential to develop.
