Rangers will be “glad to see the back” of on-loan midfielder Bongani Zungu.

That is according to ex-Premier League shot-stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Amiens manager Oswald Tanchot confirmed that Zungu would return to the French club next season.

This site first broke news that five Rangers players had breached Covid protocols by attending a party in February.

Football Insider later revealed that Zungu’s Rangers career was all but over after he was named among the quintet.

The 28-year-old has played just 38 minutes of football since the incident.

Kenny insists that Zungu is a “trouble causer ” and will not be missed at Ibrox.

He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “They’ll definitely be glad to see the back of him. He’s a trouble maker, I think.

“They have done so well this season under Steven Gerrard with the discipline they’ve got there.

“After all that happened earlier in the year, it’s best to start afresh, in my opinion.

“When you’ve just won the league, why would you want someone like him at the club anyway?

“He’s not even their player and he’s only on loan. So you may as well send him back, cut your losses and move on.”

Zungu made 20 Rangers appearances in total since his arrival in October.

The decision-makers at Ibrox installed an option-to-buy clause in the 29-time South Africa international’s deal, though it looks likely it will go unused.
