Derek McInnes' actions indicate he'll definitely sign Stuart Findlay for Rangers - view
Derek McInnes is set to be part of a Rangers side in desperate need of reinforcement in the ongoing transfer window.
The Scottish manager is expected to replace Danny Rohl at the Gers, with the former Sheffield Wednesday boss on his way to Red Bull Salzburg.
With the Light Blues enduring a bitter end to the season under the 37-year-old head coach, it has been clear that they need to bolster their squad in the summer to compete for silverware in the 2026-27 campaign.
One position McInnes will certainly be desperate to strengthen is centre-back and he should push the Ibrox hierarchy to reunite him with Hearts' Stuart Findlay.
With Derek Cornelius and Nasser Djiga returning to their parent clubs after their loan spells in Govan, the Scottish manager will arguably need multiple additions in the backline in the coming weeks.
Findlay was arguably one of the best players at Tynecastle Park this season and his experience is something the Glaswegian outfit arguably need at centre-back right now.
Hearts to negotiate with Rangers for Stuart Findlay transfer
Findlay has agreed a pre-contract agreement with Hearts to join them once his deal with Oxford United expires at the end of June.
McInnes signed the defender on loan at Kilmarnock and did the same once he was appointed at the Jam Tarts last summer.
The Jambos have let the Gers sign Lawrence Shankland and have been open to the Scottish manager's exit as well, and it wouldn't be surprising to see them sanction the 30-year-old centre-back's exit for the right price.
Findlay has agreed a two-year contract at Tynecastle Park, but McInnes will surely hope to reunite with him at Ibrox sooner rather than later.
Ibrox chiefs have another transfer priority
Football Insider transfer correspondent Pete O'Rourke shared on 14 June that Rangers will sign at least one new right-back in the summer after James Tavernier and Max Aarons' departures.
As things stand, Dujon Sterling is the only natural option in the position, but the Englishman's persistent fitness issues make him a liability.
The Glaswegian outfit have been left short on options in their defence and clearly need to add more depth across the backline, starting with the right-back and centre-back positions.
