Derek McInnes 'under fire' at Rangers as fans in meltdown
Derek McInnes is already coming under fire in his role as Rangers manager after what has been a turbulent start to the season.
Fans have already begun to express their frustrations towards the boss, after they failed to reach the Europa League or Conference League through the qualifyers.
Defeats to Polish outfit Jagiellonia Bialystok and Croation side Jablonec, which prompted the boss to admit he was "mortified", have led to early question marks over his position.
Rangers fans are notoriously demanding, and McInnes has been brought in and steady the ship after last season's third-place finish, with plenty of pressure on his position.
As a result, he has been warned he must continue on this current run of form, or risk facing new questions about his position in the dugout at Ibrox.
Is Derek McInnes under pressure at Rangers?
Former Aberdeen CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider last month that McInnes is already causing frustrations at Rangers following a public demand to be backed in the window.
With the transfer window now close to an end, the focus at Ibrox has shifted towards improving results on the pitch, with McInnes facing increasing pressure.
Despite some frustrations, however, there are plans to give the boss space and time to improve his results, with recent back-to-back wins already showing progress.
"The Rangers manager is always going to be under pressure to win games," Brown told Football Insider.
"Last season wasn't good enough, and McInnes has been brought in to raise the standards and get Rangers back into a position where they can challenge again.
"But they've had a really poor start to the season, didn't hit the ground running in the league, and have been knocked out of all of the European competitions.
"To be honest, that's not good enough, and that's why McInnes has been under fire because the fans have been voicing their frsutartions and their demands for the team to improve.
"But it was a good win agains Aberdeen and they followed that up against Falkirk, so now he has to prove he can keep that run of form going.
"That's the most important thing for him at the moment, to find some consistency and put together a run of wins, with everybody pulling in the same direction.
"If McInnes can get the fans on side and get the players performing, then that pressure will soon be eased, it's just about winning games for now."
Could Rangers face new difficulties on deadline day?
Alongside the pressure on McInnes' position, Rangers are also facing demands in the transfer market, with hours to go until the window closes later tonight.
The Ibrox club are still at risk of losing players before the transfer deadline, with a number of big names attracting interest from clubs across Europe.
Football Insider revealed on 1 September that Djeidi Gassama could leave Rangers in the near future, and is attracting interest from at least four clubs across Europe.
Despite the window having closed in most of Europe's top leagues, and while the interest in Gassama from Italy will not develop, RB Salzburg have been backed to make a late move.
Danny Rohl could be tempted to reuinite with his former player, with the Austrian Bundesliga transfer window set to close alongside the Scottish window later on today.
