Findlay Curtis has reacted to news of a new contract for Rangers teammate Bailey Rice amid concerns over his own future at the club.

Derek McInnes has plenty to do following his arrival as Rangers' new manager after Danny Rohl left to take over at Red Bull Salzburg.

The former Hearts boss is set to give young forward Curtis a chance to make an impression in the Gers' senior squad following his standout loan spell at KilmarnockCurtis

Curtis, 20, registered five goals and one assist in 14 Premiership appearances during the second half of the campaign to earn a spot in Scotland's World Cup squad for this summer.

There are lingering doubts around his own long-term future at Ibrox, however, with recent reports claiming that Rangers' chiefs are doing all they can to agree fresh terms with Curtis' representatives.

Curtis would be following in the footsteps of fellow academy graduate Rice by signing an extension to his first professional deal.

The 19-year-old midfielder was widely expected to depart this summer after a tough 2025-26 campaign, but has now put rumours of an exit to bed.

Rice came through the ranks at Rangers to make his first team debut at just 16-years-old in February 2023.

He continued on the fringes of the senior side before seeming to make another step up as he made 12 appearances across three different competitions in 2024-25.

The central midfielder then struggled for game time in a turbulent 2025-26, with his sole first team appearance coming in a cup win against Alloa as he was deployed at left-back by Russell Martin.

He was not expected to sign a new contract at Ibrox after failing to impress Danny Rohl, with Aston Villa believed to be among his suitors.

Rice has seemingly bought into the McInnes project now, though, after Rangers announced on Monday that he had signed a new one-year extension, with the club holding an option of another year too.

Fellow teenage starlet Curtis liked the announcement on Instagram, while Jack Butland, Bojan Miovski and Liam Kelly all followed suit.

Rangers fearing the worst with Curtis as exit claim made

Curtis clearly has talent and is set for a bright future in the game after becoming Scotland's youngest ever World Cup player against Haiti last week.

He picked up the Premiership's Breakthrough Player of the Season award last month and is surely set for a key role in McInnes' squad next term.

That is if he wants to stay, after sources exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Curtis could push for a move away from Rangers if a tempting offer from a top European side arrives.

Rangers want him to sign a new contract, with two years believed to be left on his current deal, but could well be left ruing not giving him a proper chance last season.
