Rangers are in need of a new right-back to replace James Tavernier this summer when the captain departs.

Despite his age, the 34-year-old has still played in 32 Scottish Premiership matches this campaign, starting in 23 of them.

On top of this, Max Aarons, who is often used in his place, is also set to depart, with his loan deal expiring at the end of the season.

As a result, a new right-back is no doubt needed, with Dujon Sterling the only first-team player who can cover this position.

However, Findlay Curtis could be an ideal replacement, with the youngster currently shining on loan at Kilmarnock.

Findlay Curtis shines at right-back at Kilmarnock

Since his loan move in the winter window, Curtis has become a star player at Kilmarnock.

The 19-year-old has been used in various positions, including both wings, and even up top.

However, one role he has found consistent success in is at right-back.

On Saturday, he played in this position again and netted Kilmarnock’s second in a 3-0 victory over Dundee United.

On top of his impressive attacking output, he also did well defensively, performing two tackles, two clearances and two interceptions.

As a result, Rangers may already have a ready-made replacement for Tavernier, as Curtis’ loan spell has shown he has the potential to fill this hole.

Therefore, Rohl needs to ensure he builds on these recent displays when he returns to Ibrox in the summer.

Curtis could challenge for first-team place at Rangers next season

Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Curtis will not be leaving Rangers in the summer.

Instead, Danny Rohl intends to have him in his first-team plans for the upcoming season.

Curtis’ loan form has been a considerable boost to Rangers, as they can now allocate funds elsewhere in the summer transfer window.

So far at Kilmarnock, he has made 11 appearances, scoring twice, while picking up one assist as they look to avoid relegation in their final matches of the season.

The attacker had previously been in the Gers’ first-team earlier this season before Rohl reduced his game time upon his appointment.

However, it remains to be seen if Curtis can impress at Rangers in the upcoming season, with the 19-year-old aiming to become a star at Ibrox.
