Rangers fans say the same thing about Cammy Devlin after incident vs FK Jablonec
Rangers took a giant step towards qualification for the Europa Conference League as they overcame FK Jablonec 1-0 in the first leg of the playoffs at Ibrox.
It was far from a smooth ride for Derek McInnes’ men as Ryan Naderi’s goal proved to be the sole difference on the night.
However, the Gers were at massive risk of losing their advantage going into the second leg when Cameron Devlin was sent off after 74 minutes.
Shortly after coming off the bench, the midfielder received his marching orders after VAR advised that a red card should be issued for a high challenge on Jriri Slama.
There was little doubt about the decision, as the Australia international continues to struggle at Ibrox since his summer move.
As a result, many Rangers fans have already turned on Devlin, with some insisting that he should already be removed from the club.
Rangers fans fume with Cammy Devlin after red card vs FK Jablonec
Devlin’s arrival at Rangers this summer appeared to be a low-risk, high-reward move.
After a stellar campaign at Hearts, the 28-year-old made his way to Ibrox on a free transfer.
However, since completing the move, he has been awful and has already been dropped from the starting XI.
Therefore, when he was sent off on Thursday, it only helped turn more fans against him, with many taking to X to blast the midfielder.
What were the stats in Rangers vs FK Jablonec?
Despite Devlin’s red card, Rangers were deserved winners in the first leg of the playoffs.
The Old Firm club were dominant throughout, and this is shown in the stats.
Overall, the Gers had 13 shots with three being on target, a 1.90 xG, 57 per cent possession, and created three big chances.
In comparison, FK Jablonec had five shots with four being on target, a 0.16 xG, 43 per cent possession and zero big chances.
Therefore, despite the tie not being over, if McInnes’ side can repeat this performance in Czechia, it should see them through into the Conference League’s league stage.
However, it remains to be seen if Rangers are able to get the job done after what has been a lacklustre start to their season.
