Rangers fans are already starting to question Derek McInnes’ long-term future as manager after their 2-1 defeat to Jagiellonia Bialystok on Thursday.

Despite leading the game 1-0 after just four minutes, the Gers collapsed in Poland in the third qualifying round of the Europa League.

Rangers now face an uphill task next week at Ibrox if they are to reach the Europa League playoffs later this month.

On top of the result, the performance was also concerning, with McInnes now without a win in his first two competitive games in charge of the Old Firm club.

Now, many supporters are already beginning to question whether he is the right man for the job, after a dire opening two matches.

McInnes was appointed in the summer to take over from Danny Rohl, who departed Ibrox for Red Bull Salzburg.

On the face of it, Rangers should not have faced much trouble against Jagiellonia Bialystok.

The Polish side finished third in their division last season and have only qualified for the Conference League in the previous two campaigns.

Yet, poor defending on Thursday has left Rangers with work to do if they are to reach the playoff round.

Reflecting on the result, many fans have pushed the blame onto McInnes, with many believing that he may not be cut out for the job after the recent result.

Will Rangers remain in Europe if they do not overcome Jagiellonia Bialystok?

If Rangers are not able to beat Jagiellonia Bialystok in the second leg of the Europa League qualifiers, they will be relegated to the Conference League qualifiers.

Here, they will face either Jablonec of Czech Republic or RFS of Latvia in the playoffs.

If they are able to overturn the result against Jagiellonia Bialystok and reach the Europa League playoffs, they will face either Northern Irish champions Larne or Iberia Tbilisi of Georgia.

If they were to lose in the Europa League playoffs, they would remain in Europe and would play in the Conference League’s league phase.

However, it remains to be seen if Rangers are finally able to hit form under McInnes after what has been a rough opening two matches in charge of the club.
