SFA to 'come down hard' on Derek McInnes after 'performative' Rangers gesture - Keith Wyness
Rangers manager Derek McInnes will continue to land himself in hot water if he doesn't tone down his reactions to refereeing decisions.
That is according to former Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes that the 55-year-old was wrong to confront referee Nick Walsh on the pitch after his team's 1-1 draw with Dundee United last week.
McInnes stormed onto the pitch and ranted at the official after Mohammed Diomande saw a late appeal for a penalty waved away by the man in the middle.
Wyness admitted that he has "lost sympathy" for McInnes with his latest actions, having previously been on his side in relation to his appeal over his four-game ban.
The new Rangers boss is already facing a three-game ban after comments regarding an official last season, with a fourth game currently suspended.
Wyness warned that further punishments are inevitable if he does not rein in his actions, and believes that is not what Rangers need right now.

Aberdeen’s former chief Wyness – who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004 and now runs a consultancy business advising elite clubs – believes that McInnes is seriously toeing the line with the SFA at the moment.
The Scottish businessman has labelled his actions after the draw with Dundee United as “performative” and feels that he cannot continue to act in a similar manner.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, he made it clear that McInnes needs to change his ways, or he can expect more punishments this season.
“Last week I was defending Derek because I thought the end of last season I thought it was so heated and it was there's some wrong decisions, and I could almost understand the anger,” Wyness said.
“I'm afraid this one is all about him coming in as a new manager and trying to show the fans that he is Rangers through and through, and it’s a bit performative in my point of view.
“He's got to realise that this is starting to become a repeat offence, and the SFA are going to be waiting for this and they're going to come down hard on him.
“He's lost my sympathy over this, and I'm afraid he's really got to watch himself, or else he is going to be sitting in the stands a lot more games than he expected.”
Rangers in talks to sign Premier League winger
Football Insider revealed last weekend that Rangers are in talks over a move to sign Coventry City winger Jahnoah Markelo.
The Light Blues are optimistic that they can get a deal over the line for the Coventry man, who has struggled to make an impact at the CBS Arena since his move there back in January.
Rangers are in the market to strengthen their wide options ahead of the deadline, and Markelo has now emerged as one of their major priorities.
The former Zurich man is not expected to get gametime now that Coventry are in the Premier League, and a move for Ibrox looks to be on the cards.
