Nicolas Raskin to leave Rangers 'on deadline day' as Premier League club move likely
Nicolas Raskin is unlikely to be a Rangers player beyond transfer deadline day amid growing interest from Premier League clubs.
The 25-year-old has been a standout performer at Ibrox for a number of years, and shone at the World Cup for Belgium, placing a number of clubs on high alert.
Rangers have so far been steadfast in their lofty demands, deterring rivals from making a move, but that is expected to change in the closing stages of the window.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown warned Football Insider that Raskin could leave Rangers on deadline day, when clubs are more likely to step up their interest.
Those who have been keeping tabs on the Belgium midfielder's situation at Ibrox without making a move could soon be tempted to step up their interest with formal offers.
Rangers have not ruled out keeping Raskin beyond the summer window, but he will have just one year remaining on his deal next year, and this could be the last chance to maximise his value.
Could Rangers let Nicolas Raskin go in the near future?
Brown told Football Insider on 18 August that Rangers are set to cut their asking price for Raskin in the closing stages of the window as they aim to drum up interest.
There is a belief that Rangers could attract significant offers in the closing stages, and this may be their final chance to do so, or risk losing him on a cut-price deal next summer.
Clubs are now set to step up their interest before the deadline on 1 September for clubs in the Premier League, Serie A and La Liga, 3 September in the SPFL, and 31 August for those in he Bundesliga.
"I think everybody is still expecting Nicolas Raskin to leave Rangers this summer," Brown told Football Insider.
"There's no doubt he has admirers, there are clubs in the Premier League and across Europe who have been looking at him but have not yet made a move.
"Whatever the season for that may be, I expect they will come forward in the late stages of the window, potentially on deadline day when we see business start to happen almost every year.
"Clubs tend to panic a bit on deadline day, they look at their squads and think they could still do with additions, so they go out and make moves for players they might not otherwise.
"That could be bad news for Rangers if they were hoping to keep Raskin, but like I said, I think they did expect him to leave this summer anyway."
Which clubs are interested in signing Raskin?
Speculation about Raskin's future is rife amid growing interest from clubs across Europe, with those in the Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga and Serie A all linked.
Football Insider revealed in July that Raskin is keen to play in a "top European league" and is set to explore his options away from Ibrox in pursuit of that goal.
The La Liga clubs taking note include the likes of Villarreal and Real Betis, those in Serie A include Roma, Atalanta and Bologna, while the likes of Fenerbahce and Besiktas have been keen.
Meanwhile, Premier League clubs including Hull City, Leeds United and even Man United and Tottenham have all been keeping an eye on the midfielder's progress.
Among those, Hull's interest in the most advanced, as they saw an offer of £14million knocked back earlier this summer and could yet return with a new bid.
