Rangers Sources: Nicolas Raskin update tonight
Nicolas Raskin is eyeing a move away from Rangers in search of a big-money deal in a top European league, sources have told Football Insider.
The 25-year-old enjoyed an outstanding World Cup for Belgium and has attracted interest from some top clubs across Europe and in the English Premier League.
Those clubs are now poised to make big-money offers to lure him away from Ibrox, with a big contract to be tabled if the Scottish club agree to let him move on.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Raskin is interested in leaving Rangers this summer and hopes to move to a top European club.
Interest in the midfielder has grown as a result of his recent performances for Belgium, and it is now becoming increasingly difficult for Derek McInnes' side to block his departure.
Raskin is hoping to assess his options before returning to pre-season training at Ibrox, with clubs preparing offers to tempt him away after months of speculation.
Could Nicolas Raskin quit Rangers this summer?
Football Insider revealed on 17 July that Rangers are expecting to receive offers for Raskin in the near future, with interested parties now ready to step up their pursuit.
The 25-year-old was highlighted as one of his country's outstanding players as Belgium reached the quarter finals, and will now return to Ibrox following a short break.
While Rangers have been hopeful that they can keep the midfielder in Glasgow, that is now increasingly unlikely, with big contract offers set to turn his head.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Yeah, for sure, I think there was interest in Nicolas Raskin before his World Cup performances.
"For Raskin himself, if a big money offer does arrive from clubs in some of Europe's top leagues, it's something that he would be interested in as well.
"He'll want to play at the highest level and continue what he's done for Belgium at the World Cup, and there are clubs who are now willing to give him that chance.
"I think it's going to be really difficult for Rangers to keep hold of Raskin off the back of his World Cup performances and the growing interest in his services."
How to Rangers feel about selling Raskin?
Despite Raskin being eager to assess his options, with the likelihood of big offers set to turn his head, much will depend on whether Rangers are willing to do a deal.
The Belgium international is under contract at Ibrox until 2028, placing the club in a strong position to dictate his future and make sure an agreement is on their terms.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 1 July that Rangers are now preparing for a bidding war over Raskin, which could help them drive up his asking price.
Having previously been demanding a fee of around £20million, they are now believed to be expecting £25million, and will play clubs off against each other in their pursuit.
Should Rangers be forced into selling one of their best players, they are determined to come out of the deal in a strong position, with the money to be reinvested into the squad.
