Djeidi Gassama could be allowed to leave Rangers with his replacement already through the doors at Ibrox, sources have told Football Insider.

The 25-year-old has been the subject of offers from a number of Italian clubs in recent weeks, and while those offers were rejected, Rangers' stance may have changed.

Derek McInnes has been keen to improve his squad in wide areas, but could now sanction a big-name departure, with incoming players opening the door.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Rangers’ signing of Minsu Kim from Girona could be the catalyst for Gassama to leave.

McInnes has no intention of weakening his squad after what has proved to be a frustrating start to the season, but offers are likely to be considered at this late stage.

Having potentially found himself pushed down the pecking order, Gassama could be the latest player to leave Ibrox should a significant offer arrive before 3 September.

Could Rangers accept offers for Djeidi Gassama?

Football Insider revealed on 28 August that Rangers have not ruled out letting Gassama leave in the closing stages of the summer transfer window amid plenty of interest.

Serie A outfits Parma and Monza have already seen offers rejected by the Ibrox club, but could return with new bids in the coming days with Rangers still assessing his future.

Following the addition of multiple new signings in wide areas, notably Kim in recent days, the opportunity may arise for Rangers to cash in on Gassama.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "There are potentially still options for Gassama to leave Rangers this summer.

"If a club does make a suitable offer for Gassama, they might be willing to sanction a move for the winger before the close of the summer transfer window.

"A lot will depend on Rangers' incomings because I don't think Derek McInnes will want to weaken his options at this stage.

"But if they are successful in bringing in those other targets, alongside the likes of Kim and potentially other wingers, then that might open the door for Gassama to leave Ibrox."

Which clubs could make moves to sign Gassama?

Speculation about Gassama's long-term future at Ibrox comes following intense interest during the January window and throughout this summer.

Parma and Monza have both made bids for the winger in recent weeks, while Monaco had an offer which would have been worth £10million rejected in the mid-season window.

As a result, Football Insider revealed in May that Rangers have been expecting offers for Gassama, and are aware of the level of interest in his signature from European rivals.

Monaco's mid-season offer for Gassama was rejected due to the structure, with the Ligue 1 club having looked to bring him in on loan with an obligation to buy.

However, if an offer of a similar value emerges in the coming days, there is a growing feeling that the winger could be allowed to move on.
