Rangers may have edge in Jens Hjerto-Dahl transfer race after Stig Inge Bjornebye decision

Rangers have handed Stig Inge Bjornebye a full-time role as performance manager as they continue plans for the ongoing transfer window.

The former Norway international came to Ibrox as an advisor to Andrew Cavenagh after the dismissals of Kevin Thelwell and Patrick Sewart, helping the Gers with their recruitment in January.

Over the years, the 56-year-old has served as sporting director at Norwegian club Rosenborg and Danish side Aarhus.

As a result, Bjornebye will surely have connections in the Eliteserien to possibly get a deal over the line for Tromso midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl at Ibrox this summer.

The Norwegian youngster has emerged as one of the most exciting prospects in recent seasons and has been linked with a move to the Glaswegian outfit.

Bjornebye is now tasked with bringing out the best in the first team and may give the Govan side an edge over their competitors in the race to sign the 20-year-old.
