Rangers plot move to sign 'the next Erling Haaland' after transfer mission

Rangers are plotting a move to sign "the next Erling Haaland" as they continue their efforts to scout Scandinavia for emerging talents.

The Ibrox club are determined to strengthen their squad this summer, having already completed six first-team signings alongside the appointment of Derek McInnes.

However, they are not done there, with scouts working hard to identify hidden talents from across Europe who can come in and make a long-term impact in Glasgow.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Rangers must focus their efforts on scouting regions where they can pick up talented players at low prices.

Scandinavia has already been identified as a key region for Rangers, with players from Norway, Sweden and Denmark already featuring in their summer transfer plans.

The aim is to sign young, lesser-known talent from these regions, help them to develop into top players at Ibrox, and potentially sell them for significant fees in the future.

What is Rangers' latest transfer plan?

Football Insider reported in May that Rangers are placing a focus on signing younger talents this summer as part of long-term plans to strengthen for the future.

While immediate improvements are needed after last season's third-placed finish, they are keen to bolster with younger additions who can develop at Ibrox.

Having seen the performances of the Norway national team at the World Cup, scouting Scadinavia is being tipped as a smart move by Rangers.

"Whenever we talk about Rangers, it's clear that the transfer market can be difficult," Brown told Football Insider.

"They can't operate in the same markets as some of the Premier League teams we speak about, because they can't compete financially, so they have to look elsewhere.

"Rangers have had scouts in different regions around Europe which might not get so much focus, they're looking in Scandinavia for example.

"When you look at how Norway performed at the World Cup, it's clear there are some bright talents there who are worth looking at and might be available for cheaper fees.

"Rangers might discover the next Erling Haaland or Martin Odegaard who might go unnoticed by bigger clubs, and they can then develop their game in Scotland.

"It's a smart move and something they have to focus on as a key area, as well as picking up the best players in Scotland and bargain deals from English football too."

Which Scandinavian players are already on Rangers' radar?

Rangers' plans to step up scouting efforts in Scandinavia are already bearing fruit, with a number of transfer targets emerging from the region this summer.

Players including BA Hacken midfielder Silas Andersen and Hammarby IF right-back Hampus Skoglund have been linked with moves to Ibrox and are firmly on the club's radar.

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 12 July that Rangers are accelerating plans to sign Tromso midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl amid interest from rival clubs.

The Norway Under-21 international has been on Rangers' radar since last summer, and there is a growing feeling they could finally get a deal over the line.

Reports have suggested the Ibrox club have already seen an opening bid rejected by Tromso, and they are now readying a second offer in their attempts to prise Hjerto-Dahl away.
