Rangers told there's only one way they can keep Nicolas Raskin as 'huge' offers come in

Rangers are extremely reluctant to lose Nicolas Raskin in the summer transfer window but fear keeping him will now be a difficult task.

The 25-year-old enjoyed an outstanding World Cup campaign with Belgium, where he was highlighted as one of the quarter-finalists' most important players.

Those performances have sparked fresh interest from a number of clubs across Europe and in the Premier League, and Rangers face a battle to deter his suitors.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that "the only way" Rangers can keep hold of Raskin is if they can price him out of a move away.

The midfielder is under contract at Ibrox until 2028, placing them in a strong position to dictate his future, and any potential sale will have to be on Rangers' terms.

However, clubs across Europe have been closely monitoring Raskin's situation, and may now be prepared to offer "huge" fees to tempt him away from Glasgow.

How can Rangers maximise Nicolas Raskin's price tag?

Football Insider revealed on 1 July that Rangers are now preparing for a bidding war over Raskin, which could allow them to drive up his asking price in the coming weeks.

The Ibrox club feel it will take a bid of around £25million to prise the Belgium international away, and are prepared to stick by their valuation this summer.

Having Raskin under contract for another two seasons is a big boost to their chances of deterring interest, and there is optimism that they can keep hold of him.

"Rangers have to be doing everything they can to keep their best players," Brown told Football Insider.

"They're in a difficult situation after where they finished last season, but they can't afford to start losing important parts of the team, because they don't want to be weakened.

"Raskin's performances at the World Cup, of course they're going to attract interest, but Rangers have to insist any deal is done on their terms.

"He's still under contract there for a couple of years, so they're in a good position, and the only way they can try to deter other clubs is by demanding a big fee.

"I have no doubt there are clubs capable of making huge offers for a player like that if they feel he is somebody who would improve their squad.

"But from a Rangers point of view, they have to maximise what they can get for him, hope it will put off a few of his suitors, and even if it doesn't then they still get a good fee."

Hull City 'confident' of signing Nicolas Raskin after another Rangers deal agreed

Which clubs are plotting moves to sign Raskin?

Despite Rangers' reluctance to lose Raskin, a number of clubs across European football have been keeping a close eye on his situation with offers in mind.

Over the last 12 months, the midfielder has been linked with a number of clubs in Italy, Turkey, Portugal, Spain and England, and the interest has not faded.

Brown told Football Insider on 30 June that Hull City are now pushing to sign Raskin and are confident they can beat their rivals in their pursuit of the Belgium star.

Whether Hull are willing to match his asking price is currently unclear, but the newly-promoted Premier League outfit are confident there is a deal to be done.

The Tigers have already done business with Rangers this summer in deals for Ivor Pandur and Jack Butland, and could utilise that good relationship to reach another agreement.
